EdgeCore Digital Infrastructure Announces Development of Reno, Nevada Data Center Campus
Low latency connectivity to California and favorable power costs are drivers for regional expansion
EdgeCore Digital Infrastructure, a wholesale data center developer, owner, and operator, announced the purchase of 136 acres of land in Reno, Nevada and plans to develop a data center campus capable of supporting over 400 MW of critical load. Located in north Reno, EdgeCore’s campus is positioned adjacent to the Reno-Tahoe International Airport and is easily accessible from Interstate 80, U.S. Route 395, and Nevada State Route 659.
“As we continue to rapidly expand our portfolio in key data center markets, Reno stood out as an attractive location with abundant land, near-term power availability and a positive development ecosystem,” said Lee Kestler, CEO, EdgeCore Digital Infrastructure. “We are pleased to welcome Reno into our family of markets and look forward to a long, collaborative, and positive relationship with the community.”
Located in Nevada, EdgeCore’s Reno data center campus offers customers a combination of competitive operating costs, near-term power availability, favorable natural climate, and available developable land. Once developed, the Reno campus will provide hyperscale tenants with carrier-neutral, campus-wide, multi-provider dark fiber connectivity and utility power that is reliable and cost-effective when compared to major coastal markets.
“EdgeCore’s announcement to invest in Reno is great news for Northern Nevada,” said Mike Kazmierski, CEO Elect, Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN). “Our favorable business climate, available land and power, and talent pipeline are strong differentiators that are positioning Reno as a major data center hub. This important investment will contribute to job growth and a stronger economy in our region.”
This announcement is EdgeCore’s fourth data center campus development project in 2023, and follows the development of a Silicon Valley campus (January), Northern Virginia campus (March), and the expansion of the Greater Phoenix campus (April). EdgeCore plans to continue its aggressive growth strategy in 2024, with plans to invest an additional $600 million into new data center regions.
